Welcome to Mar Elias Market

“Ahlan wa Sahlan”… a welcome phrase you will inescapably hear when strolling around in Mar Elias street.
Strategically located between Corniche el Mazraa and Verdun, Mar Elias Commercial Street has flourished and expanded over the years, to become one of the most sought after shopping locations in Beirut.
The core reason for this growth lies not only in the variety and diversity of the shops one can find here, but also in the friendly and welcoming atmosphere you encounter, drawing you to wander amid the multitude of clothes shops, shoes outlets and many other commercial establishments.
That is precisely the source of pride and content to the Mar Elias Traders Association, whose members employ all their resources to defend the interests of the traders and merchants in the area, as well as those of the consumers.
As a matter of fact, since its creation, in 1976, the Mar Elias Traders Committee has been striving to attend to the affairs of the merchants, at a time when there was no presence for governmental institutions. Working in a close environment of solidarity and cooperation, the committee, which later became the Mar Elias Trader’s Association, succeeded in rendering Mar Elias a model of “National Unity” – as called by the Lebanese press.
Among the association’s many developmental projects, one held a greater significance: the renovation and complete rehabilitation of the street. However, this project remained ink on paper, until it was adopted by the Lebanese Prime Minister, Rafic el Hariri. In 1997, Mar Elias shopping street was inaugurated, adding a unique, vibrant feel to the Beirut shopping scene.
Have a nice Shopping Day!!

Mar Elias Market...A new Shopping Experience.

With its wide range of shops offering a variety of choices, its friendly atmosphere that reveals the heart of Lebanese hospitality, Mar Elias Street sets a new trend for shopping in Beirut.
Currently one of the most shopping destinations of the capital, Mar Elias Street was “born” in 1975, after the civil war ravaged the country and destroyed the down-town, Beirut Commercial Center.
From a temporary trading place, offering shelter to merchants and comprising no more than 20 shops in 1976, the street has turned into a big market center, gathering more than 250 commercial institutions; hence Mar Elias grew to become an integral shopping destination, fulfilling almost every need and necessity for the most fastidious of shoppers.
